Pertagas: Utilization Of Natural Gas As Energy Transition

JAKARTA – Pertamina Gas Sub Holding affiliate, PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) held the 2022 Energy Exchange Forum (EEF) with the theme "Energizing Natural Gas as Solution for Energy Transition Through Synergy, Innovation and Technology Adaptation".

The event was attended by the President Director of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk and opened by the President Director of Pertagas, Wiko Migantoro.

Wiko in his speech said that this event was a forum for sharing knowledge and synergies in the Sub-Holding Gas environment. This is the third time Pertagas has organized EEF.

"In this year's EEF, the number of materials has increased compared to the previous year. This shows our enthusiasm and enthusiasm to grow together in synergy in order to realize the vision and mission of Sub Holding Gas," said Wiko in an official statement, Monday, February 21.

On the first day of EEF 2022, Pertagas presented four main speakers as resource persons, namely Arifin Rudiyanto Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources at BAPPENAS, Montty Girianna Deputy III for BUMN Business Development, Research and Innovation at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy and Lenita Tobing and Asheesh Sastry from Boston Consulting. According to Arifin Rudiyanto, the energy transition from the use of fossil fuels to renewable energy has a very important role in achieving Net Zero Emissions which is a long-term strategy and energy transition policy in Indonesia.

“The use of natural gas is one of the bridges for the energy transition towards the use of renewable energy sources. Because natural gas is known as energy that has very good combustion efficiency, is clean, environmentally friendly and cheaper when compared to petroleum," said Arifin.

The same thing was also conveyed by Montty Giriana regarding the use of natural gas as transitional energy.

“The use of natural gas is in line with the government's commitment to reduce the greenhouse effect. The energy transition is something that must be done because globally the direction of energy use is towards energy with low emissions. Pertagas can continue to carry out its role in the energy transition by increasing the development of facilities and infrastructure as well as technology such as CNG, LNG and LPG," said Montty. This is evidenced by data on the increase in demand for natural gas on Energy Global Demand submitted by Lenita Tobing and Asheesh Sastry. Estimates of global natural gas demand have a positive trend until 2040.

The presence of four speakers from various fields at EEF 2022 was enthusiastically welcomed by the Gas Sub Holding Officers. On the first day of EEF more than 500 participants joined online for this event. Through EEF, it is hoped that Gas Sub Holding Officers can gain deeper insight and be able to play an active role in the energy transition program in Indonesia.

EEF 2022 will be held for two days, February 21-22 and is part of a series of commemorations for the 15th anniversary of Pertagas which falls on February 23, 2022. The second day of EEF will invite Erika Retnowati, Head of BPH Migas, as the main resource person.
