The Aftermath Of The Expulsion Of The Aircraft From The Col. RA Bessing, Susi Air Asks For Compensation Of IDR 8.9 Billion To The Malinau Regency Government

JAKARTA - Susi Air officially sent a subpoena to Malinau Regent Wempi Wellem Mawa and Malinau District Secretary Ernes Silvanus.

In her subpoena, Susi Air asked for compensation of IDR 8.9 billion.

This summons was issued after there was an attempt to forcefully evict a plane belonging to the airline Susi Air from the Kol Airport Hangar. RA Bessing Malinau, North Kalimantan.

From the information received by VOI, Susi Air's attorney revealed that legal steps were taken to respond to serious violations of forced/execution attempts that were unlawfully carried out by officials and officers on 2 February 2022.

"Of course, this legal step is taken not only for the benefit of Susi Air but also for the benefit of the wider community", explained Susi Air's attorney at Visi Law Office in a statement, Monday, February 7.

Furthermore, Visi Law Office revealed that the subpoena was sent to the two parties because they were considered the most responsible for the issue of Susi Air's expulsion from the Hangar.

The attorney assessed that the use and deployment of Civil Service Police Unit personnel and equipment by the Malinau Regency Government was suspected of being an unlawful act because it was not by the Civil Service Police Unit duties as regulated in Article 1 number 1 and Article 5 of Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 16 of 2018 concerning Police Units.

"So Susi Air through her legal counsel sued Wempi Welem Mawa (Regent of Malinau) and Ernes Silvanus (Regional Secretary of Malinau Regency) within 3 days to apologize in writing and compensate Susi Air's operational losses stemming from losses due to flight cancellations, maintenance costs and moving goods", he wrote.

As of this writing, VOI has not yet received a response from Regional Secretary Ernes regarding Susi Air's summons.
