JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) took the initiative to promote the innovation of small and medium-sized industry players (IKM) to be mass-produced by PT Hartono Istana Teknologi (Polytron).

The Director General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry Reni Yanita said that his party offered a portable wireless speaker product that won the 2021 Indonesia Good Design Selection (IGDS) event, named Sora Gelatik, to be commercialized by the business entity belonging to the Hartono Brothers conglomerate.

According to Reni, Sora Gelatik's product has a unique design and production story behind it. The creations of this nation's children are loudspeakers made from natural materials, a combination of teak wood and bamboo with a lamination technique, which are made manually from the hands of two artisan communities.

"We hope that Polytron can enrich its local production with this very unique Sora Gelatik concept design," he said in an official broadcast, Sunday, February 6.

Reni explained that this loudspeaker has two features, namely two speaker driver units and two tweeter units equipped with bass and bluetooth activation, with compact dimensions.

Meanwhile, Sora Gelatik is the work of Freddy Chrisswantra from PT Bana Andaru Nusantara which is intended for art and decoration enthusiasts, as well as collectors, designers, architects, and anyone who likes uniqueness.

“In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, IKM players must be more observant in seeing market opportunities and gaps to face competition. IKM actors must also have uniqueness and advantages in terms of quality and sustainable production capabilities so that they are able to compete with other products in the domestic and foreign markets,” he said.

Reni added that improving product quality is absolutely necessary in facing domestic competition and anticipating the entry of imported goods.

"This is also a concrete step to encourage industry players to increase the value of the domestic component level (TKDN) in their products so that they can enter the government's goods and service procurement system. Because the regulation mandates that domestic products that must be used must have a TKDN value of at least 25 percent," concluded Reni.
