JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga expects distributors and retailers to fully comply with and fully support the supply of cooking oil with qualifications and prices set by the government in an effort to oversee the one-price program policy.

According to the Vice Minister of Trade, the role of distributors and retailers is very important in overseeing the one-price cooking oil program because their marketing reach reaches villages and all over Indonesia.

In this regard, Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga invited the Indonesian Retailers Association (Aprindo) to hold a low-cost market to encourage the synergy of all stakeholders in policies regarding cooking oil.

The activity, which was held at Pasar Raya I Salatiga, Central Java, was carried out by selling 1,420 liters of cooking oil for Rp. 14,000 per liter, in addition to selling cheap basic needs packages.

"The point is to encourage every stakeholder to synergize and collaborate so that the entire community benefits," said the Vice Minister of Trade, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, February 2.

On that occasion, Jerry expressed his appreciation to Aprindo who mobilized all members and all resources to support the government.

In addition to encouraging distributors and retailers, he added, the low-cost market activity is also intended to provide education to shop and buy cooking oil wisely without the need to buy everything or panic buying.

"The government guarantees the availability of cooking oil. So I hope that the phenomenon of running out of cooking oil in various retail stores will not happen again," he said.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto who reviewed the activity said the government fully guarantees the availability of basic commodities and price stability so that the level of community welfare can continue to be improved.

In particular, cooking oil, according to him, is intended so that the recent price increase phenomenon does not interfere with public consumption.

"So all parties benefit. Entrepreneurs, workers, traders, and all parties involved in the cooking oil industry benefit from good prices, while the public is not disturbed by supply and the prices are still affordable," he said.
