JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Coordinator for Industry and Development (Korinbang) Rachmat Gobel said that new graduates are hope, light, and new energy for society, nation, and state.

"A new graduate is a new light for the nation. He gives new energy through his work so that it illuminates people's lives," he said during a public lecture for undergraduate and postgraduate graduation at Mathla'ul Anwar University (Unma), Padeglang, Banten, in a written statement quoted from Antara, Monday 31 January.

In a lecture at the university, which is part of the religious organization Mathla'ul Anwar, Rachmat Gobel told scholars that there were only two choices, namely success or failure.

"Of course, you can't fail. So you have to be successful. For this reason, new graduates must use all their abilities. With science and technology and faith and piety, through the knowledge learned in college as well as through prayer, persistence, and faith absorbed from everyday life. That was my experience when I was given a challenge by my father," said the former Trade Minister.

Through the ability of their minds and hearts, continued Rachmat Gobel, new scholars will become the drivers of change in society.

"That's why I call the new scholars a light for society and the nation," he said.

The new graduates, he continued, could take part in companies or become independent entrepreneurs.

"Prove your ability. Don't be satisfied with a diploma that can't be exchanged for money," he said.

Rachmat Gobel also said that the Indonesian nation and state really need new graduates who are still fresh.

"Indonesia has the advantage of a demographic bonus because the composition of its population is dominated by young people. So Indonesia's future should be bright because there are many shining lights," he said.

As a scholar from an Islamic educational institution, said Rachmat Gobel, the graduates of Mathla'ul Anwar University are a separate asset in the halal economy.

"The potential of the halal economy market is huge. Take advantage of it. Be a producer of the halal economy, don't be a consumer," he said.

As revealed in the World Halal Summit forum at the end of 2021, the potential for the world's halal economy market to reach 7 trillion US dollars. This is what Indonesia should take advantage of.

Mathla'ul Anwar is an organization that started as a modern educational institution that was founded in 1916. After that, it developed into a religious organization with branches throughout Indonesia.
