Maradona About Pochettino Who Could Make European Clubs Bite Their Fingers

JAKARTA - Diego Maradona has opened his voice regarding Boca Juniors who does not have a coach after Gustavo Alfaro resigned. He advised his former club to recruit Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich since he left Tottenham Hotspur last month. Maradona - currently coaching Argentine Superliga club Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata - nominated Pochettino to return to his hometown and lead Boca.

After Boca Juniors legend Juan Roman Riquelme returned to La Bombonera as vice president in December last year, Maradona was said to be following. But, he denied it.

"I'm not going to Boca ... because I repeat that I don't agree with those who will run the club," Maradona told Ole. "The president [Jorge Amor Ameal] was already there and it was a disaster, he surrounded himself with [vice president Mario Pergolini] who believed he could handle the club."

"And Roman (Riquelme) ... the club does not walk in the dressing room. This is much more difficult than stopping the ball, giving a pass or taking a free kick," continued the former Argentina national team coach.

Maradona continued, Boca had to recruit a reliable racist so they could play their signature football. But he emphasized that it was not easy to sit in that chair because the best of all candidates was only himself.

"But now I'm not leaving. I want Mauricio Pochettino. You have to call him and convince him to come to lead the biggest team in the world."

But at the end of his statement, Maradona gave a little hope even though it depended on the fate of the club he was currently managing.

"I want to finish in the best possible way. First I want to save Gymnasia [from relegation], then we'll see (in the future)."

Boca are currently second in the Superliga, one point behind leaders Argentinos Juniors, while Gimnasia are 21st of the 24 teams competing in the division.
