Take The Coach's License, Jorginho Wants To Help Arsenal Win The Premier League

JAKARTA - Arsenal's veteran midfielder, Jorginho, doesn't really mind his place in the first team starting to shift.

The Italian passport player remains highly excited to support the Gunners who are trying to win the Premier League this season, first in nearly 20 years.

The 33-year-old said he was happy with Arsenal, where he has made 66 appearances in all competitions since joining in January 2023.

"I am happy (at Arsenal). You may not be unhappy at a club like this, with people working at a club, with groups, atmospheres here in training."

"I think this is an amazing work environment that anyone who comes here is enjoying," Jorginho said in an exclusive interview with Brazil's ESPN.

Jorginho has only packed 14 games this season in all competitions, eight as starters and six as substitutes.

However, the midfielder still supports Arsenal's target. Most recently, he took a coaching license to welcome his next career.

Initially, he thought that what he learned in coaching courses was just to continue the journey after hanging up his boots.

However, it turns out that he found a useful experience and could actually help the team, especially Mikel Arteta's manager.

"I (enjoyed) the coaching course. I've said before that I've always been told you're going to be a coach later."

"I always say I don't want to because, whether I like it or not, it turns out that life as a coach takes more time. Much more time than life as a player."

"So I always said I didn't want to and I arrived at Arsenal. They (Arsenal players) questioned why I didn't take coaching courses."

"Then, I understand. I will do it then, just so that, like it or not, I can see what it feels like."

"I ended up falling in love with the idea of being on the pitch and being able to have an impact on the players or children or anyone else. So, it's really cool. I think it could be a way for the future," said Jorginho.

Meanwhile, on a half-season trip, Jorginho was Mikel Arteta's mainstay. He packed 36 games in all competitions with one goal and two assists.

Next, Arsenal will host Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Saturday, December 28, 2024, early morning WIB, as they try to get closer to leaders in the Liverpool standings.
