JAKARTA - Charles Leclerc, a Ferrari racer, has floated confidence that he can win pole at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

This belief came after the results were slick in two free fatihan sessions. He topped BAZIKAN free practice (FP) 1 with 1 minute and 35,265 seconds of paint ahead of his teammates, Carlos Sainz, and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin).

"It looks good for now. I love the track, it's fun to drive. I always like street tracks, but this one is good," Leclerc said in Formula One.

"We look strong enough for now. It's hard to understand for sure our position in the race speed, but in qualifying speed we look strong. We still have to work and try to take steps forward for tomorrow, but this is a good start," he said again.

Even so, Leclerc does not want to be big-headed, especially if faced with Red Bull in official races.

"I don't know. I think in qualifying as usual we will be there, but at race speed I think they are still too strong," Leclerc said.

So far, Red Bull is still strong when they enter the race. However, they don't seem scary in the free fatihan session.

Just look at Max Verstappen's acquisition. The three-time world champion looked very difficult in the free practice session.

Using soft tires, he can only rank sixth behind Valterri Bottas (Alfa Romeo) and his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez.
