JAKARTA - The fight plan between two heavyweight world champions, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, has surfaced again. Both could have climbed into the ring even though Daniel Dubois is currently demanding a rematch with Usyk.
Promotor Frank Warren said that although Dubois was appealing for his controversial defeat, it was possible that Fury and Usyk would remain open in the fight.
He even said Usyk's fight with Fury would happen next year.
"That fight, we talked about getting into that fight early next year and that's still the plan," Warren was quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
"Because of a bigger picture, you can't just ignore Daniel's situation. He was treated unfairly there," he continued.
The two unbeaten champions had previously opened talks over plans to get into the ring at the start of the year. However, negotiations failed to meet a common ground.
Fury finally decided to face former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, on October 28 in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Usyk was ordered to undergo a mandatory battle to defend his WBA title belt against Dubois last weekend in Poland.
The Ukrainian boxer then won TKO in round nine. Unfortunately, his victory was marked by controversy after he occurred in the fifth round.
