JAKARTA heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua (AJ) will most likely turn against Tyson Fury or Andy Ruiz Jr if the duel with Deontay Wilder fails to materialize.

Joshua and Wilder are currently in negotiations to fight in January next year. It is planned that the two fighters will clash in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua's boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, has set a period of two to three weeks for Wilder to agree to a big fight against Anthony Joshua.

"Jika kami tidak mendapatkan pertarungan melawan Wilder berikutnya, dan saya tidak memberi batas waktu, tapi saya tidak tahu. (Saya memberi deadline) dua atau tiga minggu," ujar Hearn dilansir Boxing News.

Hearn said if negotiations between Joshua and Wilder were not completed in the next two or three weeks, he could start looking for other opponents for Joshua in November or December.

However, Hearn did not mention who Joshua was against if the duel with Wilder failed to materialize. However, Fury's logical name after he finished the duel with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.

Negotiations against Fury are also likely to be tough. Therefore, it is possible that Hearn will prepare for a trilogy battle against Andy Ruiz Jr.

"We will probably start considering the fight in November (and or) December," Hearn said.

Joshua last got into the ring last weekend when he knocked out Robert Helenius in the seventh round. It was his second win after falling twice from Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.

Before defeating Helenius, the former two-time world champion first stopped Jermaine Franklin at the O2 Arena, London, last April.
