U-17 World Cup Funds Still Discussed With The Ministry Of Finance, Menpora Guarantees Its Fate Unlike The 2023 ANOC World Beach Games

JAKARTA - The 2023 U-17 World Cup will be held on November 10. Preparations will be made immediately considering the time that has been a matter of months.

However, preparations are now facing problems. Funds for the 2023 U-17 World Cup in Indonesia are still in the process of being discussed between the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu).

Menpora Dito Ariotedjo mengatakan, dana pelaksanaan Piala Dunia U-17 akan diperoleh dari dana sisa Piala Dunia U-20 Indonesia yang pada Mei lalu cancellah digelar. Sementara kekurangannya sedang dibahas Kemenpora bersama Kemenkeu.

"If the funding problem is after we report to the president that there is an initial U-20 cluster. From there it is transferred to the U-17, later there will be several points of deficiencies that will be fulfilled in the joint process of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Finance," explained Dito.

Menpora said this process was carried out so as not to repeat the cancellation of the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games (AWBG) which was originally scheduled to be held on August 5-12 2023 in Bali.

"God willing, we are coordinating, good communication. So we are very grateful to the Minister of Finance for being enthusiastic about welcoming this prospect," he said, as reported by Antara.

On the same occasion, Dito also gave a signal that the U-17 World Cup might only be held on the island of Java and not use a stadium outside Java that was previously planned.

The venues that were prepared for the U-20 World Cup, such as the Jakabaring Stadium, Palembang, South Sumatra and the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali, will not be used for the U-17 World Cup.

This was said by the man who was 32 years old as Menpora replacing Zainudin Amali when he was asked about the stadium inspection agenda for the U-17 World Cup which was scheduled to visit only four cities in Java, namely Jakarta on July 29, 2023, Bandung (July 30), Surabaya (July 31), and Solo (1 August).

"I think yes (Jakabaring Stadium and Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium may not be used) from the explanation of the PSSI Ketum, while we see the potential in Java first, because we see U-17 in terms of logistics and transportation, right," said Dito.
