JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of Temanggung Regency has prepared 116 athletes to compete in the XVI Province Sports Week (Porprov) Central Java in the Pati Raya area on August 5-11, 2023. All of these athletes are natives of Temanggung.

"All the athletes who took part in the Porprov event were native to local sons. They are fostered athletes who are carried out in each sport," said KONI Temanggung Chairman Tommy Eka Kartika in Temanggung, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, July 23.

He said the target of KONI Temanggung at the Porprov event was in the top 20. "Our target is not grandiose, the entry of the top 20 is good, let alone more than that," he said.

According to him, at the previous Porprov event, Temanggung took 22th place by obtaining eight gold medals, 17 silver medals, and 14 bronze medals.

"There are many sports that will be followed by Temanggung athletes, we hope that all branches can present medals so that the Bhumi Phala flag can fly at this year's Porpov event," he said.

The athlete who won four gold and two silver medals in chess at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games at Cambodia Farah Yumna Budiarti also became a Porprov athlete and was determined to donate a gold medal for Temanggung.

"The preparations we carry out are intensive training twice a week, but every day we also practice routinely but online. In this event the target is gold," he said.

He said that at the Central Java Porprov event he would enter two classes, namely the women's lightning and speed class.
