JAKARTA - Anthony Sinisuka Ginting successfully defended the Singapore Open title. He became the champion in 2023 after defeating Danish badminton player Anders Antonsen, two straight games 21-16, 21-13 in a match that lasted for 40 minutes.

Last year, the Indonesian mainstay men's singles won after defeating Kodai Naraoka from Japan in the final round.

Ginting then said that his victory could not be separated from the hectic support of the audience who were present at the Singapore Indoor Stadium during the final. The world number two men's singles admitted that they felt like playing at home due to a lot of support flowing to them from inside the arena.

"It's like playing at home alone. From entering the field, the audience has been supported. Thank you and grateful for your support. I always feel happy every time I come to Singapore," said Ginting.

He then told the difference between this year's victory and last year lies only in the opponents he faces.

"Last year I fought Kodai Naraoka. It feels almost the same, only I have to keep preparing a different strategy. It's about whether this year is easier, it feels the same," Ginting said, as reported by Antara.

In the first game against Antonsen, Ginting immediately controlled the rhythm and made the opponent undeveloped. Although Antonsen was more aggressive in the early days of the game and was able to make Ginting follow the rhythm of his opponent, Ginting was finally able to develop his own game and more freely.

The success of the first game allowed him to act more calmly in the second game. In that game, the game can go according to what he wants.

"It's nice to be a champion, but this is certainly not an easy achievement. There are still things that need to be pursued. Of course, many opponents still want to beat me. There are still things that need to be improved," said Ginting.

After securing the Singapore Open trophy for the second time, Ginting did not forget to thank many parties for supporting his achievements.

"I dedicate this title to the family, Mama, Papa, PBSI, the men's singles team, the team that has always been training together since in Jakarta. Today I can bring positive results," he said.
