Defeat Thailand, Christian Shows Confidence In Round Of 16

JAKARTA - The winning of the team gold medal won by the men's badminton national team made Christian Adinata appear full of confidence in the last 16 match of the 2023 SEA Games individual number at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Christian successfully passed Thailand's Saran Jamsri with two straight games 21-16, 21-18 in a 45-minute match.

"First of all, Praise God for being able to perform well, maximally and without any injuries. Of course, playing in this individual is my motivation to increase after yesterday in the team being able to win. So I played more confidently and confidently," Christian said through written information from PP PBSI in Jakarta, Saturday, May 13.

Christian had difficulty starting the game. He had to adapt to his opponent's strategy and was left behind at the beginning of the first game.

After trailing 6-11 from Jamsri, Christian was able to catch up slowly and successfully turn things around after trying hard through his accurate punches.

"At the beginning of the first game there was a little nervousness, but after the interval the coach tried to calm me down and finally I could enjoy the game more," Christian said.

Christian's action went smoothly in the second game. After understanding the pattern of the opponent's game, he immediately stole the advantage over Jamsri.

The advantage, which was initially only one point adrift with 5-4, continues to widen to 9-6, 11-8, 15-8, to 18-13.

Christian was so excited to go through the first half, especially after he was reminded of his failure at the previous edition of the SEA Games which ended heartbreakingly.

"Last year I failed in teams and individuals, so this year I want to try it even more optimally. I want to get a medal in this individual," said Christian.

With Christian's success through the first round of the 2023 SEA Games individual number, the Indonesian badminton national team has two men's singles that advance to the quarter-finals.

Another badminton player is Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, who first appeared by defeating Filipino representative Mark Anthony Velasco with two straight games 21-10, 21-12, Friday.
