JAKARTA The heavyweight belt unification battle between Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk and WBC champion Tyson Fury, which is planned to be held next month, is threatened with failure.
The clashes between the two boxers are currently in the negotiation stage. They are said to be in the ring to unite all heavyweight belts on April 29 at Wembley Stadium.
However, the fight plan is likely to fail to materialize. This is because Fury's camp is claimed to not want to give in to the various requirements they put forward for the grand duel.
Usyk promoter Alex Krassyuk told iD Boxing the fight is currently almost impossible to hold in April as there is no agreement regarding the distribution of results.
The Usyk camp has reportedly held talks and asked the revenue distribution to be fair 50 percent each. However, Fury refused and asked them to get more.
Krassyuk said they were willing to offer a 60 and 40 percent share of the proceeds, but this offer was also still rejected by Fury's camp. Therefore, Krassyuk began to be frustrated.
Krassyuk claims that Gypsy King demanded too much money for the fight to be signed. Therefore, Usyk can switch to another name which is his mandatory opponent.
"Usyk has been in a training camp since December, so he is in excellent condition. Before coming to London, I visited him there with perfect mental and physical conditions," Krassyuk said as quoted by The Sun.
Usyk, 36, is currently training and still wants to fight. However, if Fury insists on his request then Daniel Dubois could be an option because he is a mandatory challenger for Usyk's WBA title.
Krassyuk has also revealed that the fighter fromwaki is the first boxer to face Usyk if the fight with Fury fails to reach an agreement.
Dubois, 25 years old, has a 19-1 winning-loss record and has just won four consecutive wins. He last took action when he beat Kevin Lerena at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of last year.
In addition, Usyk could also meet mandatory challenger WBO Joe Joyce, who defeated him in November 2020. However, the Juggernaut already have a April match scheduled for Zhang Zhilei from China at the Copper Box Arena, London.
Talks about the fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua also failed last September. Fury then boarded the ring against Chisora in December to secure victory.
