JAKARTA - The Indonesian Professional Footballers Association (APPI) also spoke out regarding the termination of Liga 2 2022/2023. The decision taken by PSSI as the highest federation of Indonesian football is considered to have an impact on the player's contract.

APPI believes that this policy will cause polemics, especially regarding the contracts of players with clubs that have been signed previously.

"Where there are more than 500 footballers who depend on their fate in the 2022/2023 League 2 season competition," said APPI CEO M. Hardika Aji, in an official statement.

Regarding the polemic of the player's contract that will arise from this decision, APPI revealed that it will help the players to protect their contract rights.

"As a representative of footballers in Indonesia, APPI will continue to protect the contract rights of footballers," said Exco APPI President Andritany Ardhiyasa.

"We also urge footballers whose contracts are affected by the termination of the league, to immediately communicate with APPI," he continued.

Previously, in the workshop event which was held in Surabaya, Saturday, March 4, PSSI and a number of League 2 clubs had agreed to stop the 2022/2023 season competition.

The decision is considered inversely proportional to the campaign and one of the promises of the General Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of PSSI who promised to continue Liga 2.

With the termination of the 2022/2023 season competition, the plan for the League 2 agenda will be held in November 2023 as a new season.

Before it rolls, there will be a mini tournament as an effort to fill the void in competitions to help the income of players, coaches, and clubs.

However, APPI said that this choice was not the best solution.

"The discourse to hold a mini tournament is not the best solution in tackling the risk of stopping Liga 2 for the 2022-2023 season, unless a system and verification can be implemented that adopts regulations from official competitions," wrote APPI.
