The US Open champion reportedly suffered a right leg injury while undergoing training. This was announced by the tennis player through his Twitter social media account.
"I suffered an accident because I made an unnatural move in training," Alcaraz said via his Twitter account @carlosalcaraz, Friday.
"I have worked very hard to achieve my best performance for the Australian Open, but unfortunately I can't play," he continued.
He admits this is a difficult moment. The Spaniard promised to be ready to play next year.
"It's difficult, but I have to be optimistic, recover and look forward. See you at the Australian Open 2024," he tweeted again.

Alcaraz became the youngest tennis player to rank one in the ATP world after winning his first Grand Slam tournament at the US Open 2022.
The 19-year-old also made history as the youngest tennis player to close the 2022 season at the top.
With the withdrawal of Alcaraz, the record holder of 22 Grand Slam titles, Rafael Nadal, will replace the top spot on the Australian Open flagship list which starts on January 16.
