Jokowi's 'Restu' For The Naturalization Process Of Shayne Pattynama Disambut Menpora With Hope

JAKARTA - The naturalization process for Shayne Pattynama is entering the final round. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s blessing has been obtained.

Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali revealed that President Jokowi had issued a Presidential Decree (Keppres) on Citizenship (naturalization) against the player whose full name was Shayne Elian Jay Pattynama.

"The Presidential Decree regarding the granting of citizenship to the Republic of Indonesia to Shayne Elian Jay Pattynama has been signed by Mr. President Joko Widodo," said the Minister of Youth and Sports.

Proses selanjutnya, pria kelahiran Lelystad, Belanda, 11 Agustus 1998 akan melakukan takuman sebagai warga negara Indonesia (WNI). Proses ini dilakukan di kantor Kanwil Kementerian Hukum dan HAM Provinsi DKI Jakarta.

"We hope this process can be completed soon including the transfer from the European Football Association to the Asian Football Association," he said.

Shayne Pattynama is a player recommended by the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong. His name was then proposed by PSSI to be naturalized because he has Indonesian lineages.

The 23-year-old player has Indonesian blood from his biological father from Semarang, Central Java.

Shayne Patty's career as a football player in the senior squad began in 2017 when he joined Utrecht. Currently the player who plays left-back plays for the Norwegian League's main division club,

Menpora hopes that the presence of Shayne Pattynama will increase the strength of the Indonesian national team. Moreover, the player has experienced competing at the European level.

"With the presence of Shayne Pattynama, it is hoped that it will increase the strength of the Indonesian national team in the matches that will be faced by the national team in the future," he hoped.
