For The Form Of Honor, The President Of FIFA Wants Every Country To Have One Stadium Under The Name Pele

JAKARTA - FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, hopes that every country will have a stadium called Pele. This is a form of respect for the legend who has just passed away.

Pele, who was born named Edson Arantes do Nascimento, died at the age of 82. He died on December 29 after undergoing treatment after surgery for colon cancer he had suffered for a long time.

Pele's body was buried at Santos' headquarters, Vila Belmiro Stadium on Monday, January 2. In that last moment, the Brazilian people were allowed to attend to pay tribute to the only winner of the three World Cup trophies, Gianni Infantino, who was one of the guests who attended Pele's funeral procession. Infantino also paid his last respects on behalf of FIFA to the legend.

Infantino acknowledged Pele's contribution and achievements in international football. From that note, the 52-year-old man then hopes that the whole world will pay tribute by capturing O Rei's name at a stadium in every country.

"The whole world knows Pele and knows what Pele did for football. He makes people fall in love with football," said Infantino, quoted from the official FIFA website on Tuesday, January 3.

"He is eternal, the King is eternal, and we are here, with a lot of emotion, with incredible sadness but also with a smile, because he made us all smile."

According to Infantino, the figure of Pele must be remembered, especially for the next generation. The presence of a stadium called Pele can make this happen.

"I think young people around the world, future generations, should know and remember who Pele is, and the happiness he has given to the world," said Infantino.

"Within 20, 30, 50, or 100 years, when goals are scored at Pele Stadium in any country in the world, and people ask who he is, (they will hear) he is a great player who brings joy to all of us," he concluded.
