Rooney Advises Mbappe To Leave PSG If You Want To Be At Messi And Ronaldo's Level

JAKARTA - Despite being on the side that lost and watching Lionel Messi and Argentina lift the trophy, French national team striker Kylian Mbappe received a lot of praise.

Wayne Rooney, one of them, believes the Paris Saint-Germain star must look for a new club to fully realize his potential.

The former England striker thinks Mbappe will not be considered great unless he plays in a better league.

The DC United coach assessed that the Parisian club was "not suitable" for Mbappe and the young star had to spread their wings before being compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

"I think he should leave the club and go to the Premier League," Rooney told Sports 18.

"PSG is a big club, but I think he's done everything he can in Ligue 1.

"Maybe Manchester United or Real Madrid. If he needs to reach the level of Messi and Ronaldo, I think he needs to join Manchester United or Real Madrid."

For Real Madrid itself, issuing Mbappe from Paris is not an easy task. France's international currently has a lucrative contract that runs until 2025 and will require a big offer to bring PSG to the negotiating table.

The lucrative contract extension convinced Mbappe to refuse Los Blancos to extend his stay in France. It was important for Qatar that Mbappe went to the 2022 World Cup as a PSG player, however, now that the tournament is over, they may be more willing to listen to the offer.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, may be something difficult. The reason is, this England team has experienced a decline in achievement and is no longer able to compete in the Champions League.
