BWF World Tour Finals 2022: Hendra/Ahsan To Final

JAKARTA Men's doubles pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan successfully reached the final of the 2022 BWF World Tour Finalis. Tiket they got after a dramatic rubber game 17-21, 21-13, and 21-19 against Yew Sin Ong/Ee Yi Teo at Nimibutr Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, Saturday, December 10 at noon WIB.

"We only try our best in every match, giving our best. Yesterday we entered the World Tour Finals, we didn't expect this to enter the final," Ahsan said after the match.

Hendra/Ahsan immediately lost two points in the first game. They had difficulty chasing after that and had to be six points behind in the interval.

Slowly they began to rise and managed to match the opponent's score to 13-13. However, they fell behind again after that until they lost.

In the second game, the couple nicknamed The Daddies impressed after playing tight in the first four points. They continued to excel and forced opponents to play in the deciding game.

Hendra/Ahsan were forced to play very tight in the last game. They were three points adrift in the break, but could score seven points in a row to turn ahead.

"We are happy to be able to enter the final again. In the first game we lost in front of them, in the second and third games we try to return to our pattern by holding the front game first. They also don't die easily, the defense is strong, so we have to be more patient," said Hendra.

However, Yew Sin Ong/Ee Yi Teo did not just give up. The Malaysian pair managed to equalize twice before surrendering by a difference of two points.

Indonesia still has four representatives who will fight in the semifinals. They are the men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christies, and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.
