Achieve First Victory At BWF World Tour Finals, Apriyani: Important Capital Determining Steps

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's doubles, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, won the Group G phase of the BWF World Tour Finals 2022. For Apriyani, this inaugural victory is an important asset to determine the next steps.

"Alhamdulillah, we were able to win this match. A very important victory, the first victory that might be able to determine our next step," said Apri in a written statement from PBSI quoted on Wednesday, December 7.

In the opening match at Nimibutr Arena, Thailand, Apriyani/Fadia faced the Malaysian pair Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan. This Indonesian representative won in two straight games with a score of 23-21 and 21-19.

Victory in this early round was also the retaliation for Apri/Siti's defeat when they met Pearly/Thinaah in the round of 32 at the French Open 2022.

Fadia said that he did not change the pattern of the game in this match much. Instead, the readiness factor determines the victory in today's match.

"In the second game we were already ahead but were overtaken. The point was that the focus should not be lost. It's okay to lose points, the important thing is to refocus on getting points by points," said Fadia about the course of the match.

For the next match, Apri/Fadia will challenge Zhang Shu Xian/Zheng Yu. The previous Australian Open 2022 champion lost to his compatriot, Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan through a rubber game 18-21, 21-17, 14-21.
