2022 World Cup: Giroud-Mbappe Records When France Follows The Netherlands And Argentina To The Quarter Finals

JAKARTA - The French national team stepped into the quarter-finals of Qatar's 2022 World Cup after beating Poland at the Al Thumama Stadium, Sunday, December 4, evening. Les Bleus won 3-1 in the last 16.

No surprises were made even though Poland actually put up a fight. France also followed in the footsteps of the Dutch and Argentina, who had already qualified for the next round.

In the next round, France will face the winner of the match between England and Senegal. France's meeting with England is certainly highly anticipated.

France's match against Poland went tight and entertaining. France had a chance in the 16th minute with Ousmane Dembele's strike. Although the ball was aimed at the goal, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was in the right position to catch him.

Poland got an entertainment goal in the second half extra minutes. They were awarded a penalty after the referee saw in the VAR show that a French player had handsball.

Robert Lewandowski, who became the executioner, actually failed at the first opportunity. Hugo Lloris managed to secure his first execution.

However, the penalty had to be repeated because the French players had already entered the penalty box before Lewandowski executed it. On the second occasion, the Barcelona player did not make the same mistake. The final score was 3-1 for France's victory.
