Desak Usut Tuntas Tragedy Kanjuruhan, Aremania Holds Solidarity Action At A Number Of Points In Malang City

JAKARTA - Supporters of Arema FC clubs commonly known as Aremania held solidarity actions at a number of points in Malang City, East Java, Sunday, asking for a thorough investigation of the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, which killed 135 people.

Based on ANTARA's monitoring, there are a number of points in the Malang City area where the action was carried out. Among them are the flyover in the Arjosari area, the Sawojajar area, the intersection of Jalan Trunojoyo (Buk Gluduk), the Soekarno Hatta area, Jalan S Supriadi and Jalan Besar Ijen.

In the Blimbing District, Malang City, hundreds of Aremania walked from the direction of Laksda Adi Sucipto Street to the Arjosari flyover. Meanwhile, hundreds of other Aremania from the north also headed for the Arjosari flyover. Hundreds of Aremania walked by unfurling a number of banners asking for a complete investigation of the Kanjuruhan tragedy.

Hundreds of Aremania made speeches on the Arjosari flyover and mentioned a number of demands for approximately 30 minutes, starting at 13.00 WIB. Meanwhile, traffic flow from the north to Malang City and south was diverted at the bottom lane.

One of Aremania's speeches on the Arjosari flyover called for a number of demands, including asking the police and other law enforcers regarding the legal process of six suspects in the Kanjuruhan tragedy. Legal proceedings must be carried out fairly against the six suspects.

"We demand additional articles 338 and even 340 of the Criminal Code from those previously suspected by article 359 of the Criminal Code," said one of the Aremania.

Then, it also demands the moral responsibility of all ranks of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) to resign from their positions and also to carry out a comprehensive revolution against national football.

"We demand the broadcaster League to change the match hours at night," he said.

The Aremania also asked the police to try the executor of the tear gas shooter during the Kanjuruhan tragedy. In addition, Aremania also demanded the transparency of the police regarding the results of the ethics trial of the executor of the tear gas shooter during the Kanjuruhan tragedy.

"We reject the reconstruction process carried out by the East Java Regional Police (Polda) which was carried out there. The incident occurred at the Kanjuruhan Stadium," he said.

On Saturday (1/10), there was a riot after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya with a final score of 2-3 at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency. The defeat caused a number of supporters to fall and enter the field area.

The riots grew even bigger where a number of flares were thrown, including other objects. Joint security officers from the police and the TNI tried to dispel the supporters and eventually used tear gas.

As a result of the incident, 135 people were reported to have died from fractures, trauma to the head and neck and asphysia or reduced oxygen levels in the body. In addition, it was also reported that hundreds of people suffered minor injuries including serious injuries.
