JAKARTA - Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola asked Erling Haaland to diet during the 2022 World Cup break. He wants the player to be fit when he rejoins the club.

Haaland will miss the 2022 World Cup because his country, Norway, did not qualify for Qatar. Guardiola said the player might be on vacation in Marbella or Norway.

"He will play golf, hopefully he doesn't eat and drink much so he gets back fit," said Guardiola.

Guardiola is actually not very worried. According to him, Haaland is an intelligent and hard-working player.

According to Guardiola, it can be seen from his work ethic. "He was one of the first players to come (to the training ground) and finally left."

"Haaland takes care of his body perfectly. He is educated in living life as a professional and intends to be better," continued Guardiola.

The Spanish man then praised the player's expertise in scoring goals. According to him, Haaland did a difficult thing for a striker.

"He scored a lot in the penalty box. He tried not to get too close to the goal that was not easy for a striker," said Guardiola.
