JAKARTA - Chelsea is rumored to have found a new player next season. The Premier League club is said to have entered into a pre-contract agreement with RB midfielder Leipzig Christopher Nkunku.

Rumors circulated that the player had undergone a covert medical with the Blues last month.

Nkunku was already the target of Chelsea's operations last summer. However, at that time the Blues failed to get the French player.

According to an Athletic report quoted via Antara, Nkunku is expected to join Stamford Bridge next season.

Chelsea's new owner, Todd Boehly, has already redeemed the player's release clause which reached 53 million pounds (Rp 911 billion).

The 24-year-old featured an outstanding form last season scoring 35 goals and made 20 assists from 52 appearances with Leipzig and won the Bundesliga best player award this year.

Nkunku's appearance made Leipzig extend his contract until 2026 and included a release clause of 53 million pounds which Chelsea has now penetrated.

At the international level, Nkunku has eight times defended the French national team and continued his impressive performance at club level this season by scoring six goals and one assists.

Since being acquired by a new owner, Chelsea have brought in Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly, trafa, Raheem Sterling and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.
