JAKARTA - Fabio Capello reminisced about his tenure at Real Madrid. He said the decision to sell Ronaldo Nazario helped him achieve success at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Italian coach shared several stories while speaking at Trento's dello Sport Festival, including his decision to sell Ronaldo to AC Milan in January 2006/07 seasons.

"The decision to fire Ronaldo and sign Cassano helped create the spirit of victory in the team," Capello said.

"We have won nine points from Barcelona in the last 10 games and I am still proud of that today.

"I remember Silvio Berlusconi calling me to ask how Ronaldo was.

"I told him he didn't even train and that he loved parties too much and the women, so signing him to Milan would be a mistake.

"The next day I saw the headlines in the newspaper: 'Ronaldo in Milan'. It was so funny."

The Italian also revealed that Real Madrid was the team that left the biggest track on him. Especially because of how he formed the club during his first trip at the Santiago Bernabeu, when he won the league title in 1997.

"Bernabeu is a place of protection, the responsibility is very large," he said.

"Real Madrid is the most defensive team in my heart because I have to build it by bringing in players that you think can make a difference.

"I have four 20-year-olds in the first team, I signed the Seedorf from Sampdoria and Roberto Carlos for the defense."

The man who is now 76 years old is also discussing his relationship with the players.

"No particular player has ever disrespected me," Capello said.

"Of course we can talk and argue, but I will not accept any other behavior.

"I'm not a magazine, I'm sorry I was branded like that."

Capello also shared his thoughts on the style of play and the evolution of footballers.

"What's the beauty for me in football? Scored goals after three passes, for example," Capello said.

"Beaucy also gets results depending on the players you have.

"Beaucy is also a genius player who suddenly like Messi, for example.

"Two players who make beauty happen: Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi, because they turn difficulties into easy things.

"They have a personality and they pass it on to the crowd, they make an impact."
