JAKARTA - The Indonesian national amputation football team will take action in the 2022 World Cup on 1-9 October. This grand tournament will be held in Istanbul Turkey.

The team, also called Garuda INAF, is in Group C with Argentina, England and the United States. Although the group is tough, the guts of the Red and White troops are not discouraged.

The coach of the Indonesian amputation football national team, Bayu Guntoro, stated that his team had shown rapid progress after spending nearly three months of intensive training.

"We are preparing this team with great coaching staff, friends from the coaching team have worked hard so that this team can become an extraordinary team not only from understanding football but also with good attitude," Bayu said at a press conference for Garuda INAF to the 2022 Amputation World Cup in Jakarta, Saturday.

"We agreed and believed that we would be able to make a surprise in Turkey later," he asserted.

Bayu admits that the opposing team is far more experienced and has appeared in the Amputation World Cup several times. However, the Garuda INAF team still believes they can bring Indonesia further than the targets set by the government.

It should be noted that the government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) targets Garuda INAF to reach the top 10 in the 2022 Amputation World Cup which will be attended by 24 countries.

Optimism was also conveyed by the General Chair of the Indonesian Amputation Football Association (PSAI) Yudi Yahya who stated that Garuda INAF was ready to prove itself by giving the best performance in Turkey later.

Yudi believes that the motivation and commitment of the players, coaches and management can bring Indonesia to achieve achievements in the World Cup later, especially with the various supports and facilities that have been provided, both from the government and the private sector.

"This preparation is the last week so there is still one practice. Regarding progress it is maximal, what the coaching team has to offer, the progress can be seen very, both in terms of physical and strategic terms," said Yudi.
