Georginio Wijnaldum Bungkam About His Injury, The Reason For Making Him Touched

JAKARTA - AS Roma midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum finally opened his voice regarding the serious injury he suffered. The injury even made him have to be absent for five months and could only be a spectator during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Wijnaldum moved from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to AS Roma on loan with a permanent purchase option at the end of the season. The 31-year-old made his debut when Roma won 1-0 over Salernitana.

In that match, Wijnaldum only appeared for 12 minutes, but then he was forced to withdraw for five months due to a broken tibia bone. He experienced this unfortunate incident while participating in the training session after the match against Salernitana.

Wijnaldum has undergone surgery to recover from his injury. However, during the recovery process, he chose to remain silent.

Now, he wants to speak up about his condition. "I didn't respond after the injury because I was very emotional and saddened by the situation of my injury. I want to say sorry for that," he was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

"I'm fine now, I accept the situation as it is and that's why I can now give 100 percent in my rehabilitation."

Wijnaldum also did not forget to send a thank you to Roma fans for their support. According to the player, the support gave him the strength to return to play as quickly as possible.

"I know it's hard for you too, because I just joined the club, and you have very high hopes for this season, but there's still time," Wilnadum said.
