Although Defeated By Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua Has A Net Worth Of IDR 1.18 Trillion

JAKARTA - British boxer Anthony Joshua lost to Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch last weekend. Even though he lost, AJ's wealth grew.

AJ was born October 15, 1989 in Watford. Both his parents are of Nigerian descent where AJ lived and studied in the African country until he was 12 years old.

After his parents divorced, AJ returned to England and always appeared in various sporting events. He even broke the 100 meter race record in high school.

AJ started boxing when he was 18 years old. Including a bit old when compared to the age of other amateur boxers when they first entered the ring.

However, AJ fell in love with the sport and quickly developed while training at ABC's Finchley club in North London.

Three years later, in 2010, he won the senior ABA Championship and at that time he was offered the opportunity to switch to professional boxing for a fee of £50,000.

One year later, at the age of 24, AJ became world champion when he secured the WBC International Heavyweight Champion belt, again at the O2 Arena.

One of AJ's biggest fights was when he faced Wladimir Klitschko for the vacant WBA Super Title in a unification match.

This duel broke box office records, more than 90 thousand people watched AJ win in dramatic fashion. For the fight in April 2017, AJ was paid 17 million US dollars (Rp. 252.44 billion).

When he was at the peak of his career, AJ agreed to a duel against then little-known Mexican boxer Andy Ruiz Jr. and surprisingly AJ lost by TKO. But he got paid 25 million US dollars (Rp 371.24 billion).

The rematch was held in Saudi Arabia in December 2019, AJ won unanimously and was paid no less than 60 million US dollars (Rp890.99 billion). This makes him one of the highest paid athletes in the world.

It is estimated, AJ has a net worth of around 80 million US dollars (Rp 1.18 trillion). Apart from being paid in the ring, AJ has also received endorsements from Under Armor, Jaguar Land Rover, Beats, Sky Sports, Hugo Boss and many more.
