JAKARTA - Jonatan Christie's struggle in the second round of the 2022 BWF World Championships has paid off. Jonatan followed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting to the round of 16 after defeating the German representative, Kai Schaefer.

Jonathan Christie, who is the seventh seed, did not encounter many obstacles when he faced Schaefer at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Japan on Tuesday, August 23 at noon WIB.

The Indonesian representative's men's singles only took 38 minutes to complete the match. He won two straight games with a score of 21-4 and 21-16.

In the first game Jonathan Christie appeared so comfortable. He even excels easily with a relatively far scoring distance. In the first interval Jojo already led 11-1 over Schaefer.

After the break, the German representatives could only add three points which made Jonathan win the first game with a landslide score of 21-4.

Continuing in the second game, Schaefer tried to change things for the better. This time the opponent tried to give resistance, but again Jonathan's dominance was superior. He closed the interval with a score of 11-5.

The results in the second half make it easier for Jonathan to collect points. Evidently, after the break Jonathan continued to shoot until he was finally able to secure a 21-16 victory.

While Jonatan advanced smoothly to the third round, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma / Amalia Chaya Pratiwi actually reaped bitter results. The Indonesian women's doubles ran aground in the round of 64 after meeting representatives from France.

When facing Margot Lambert/Anna Tran, Febriana/Amalia made great efforts to get tickets to the next round. Unfortunately, the maximum effort in the two games ended in 18-21 and 19-21 defeats.
