JAKARTA - Indonesia's men's singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, has qualified for the second round of the 2022 Badminton World Championships. However, this ticket did not come easily.

Ginting had to play three games against Brazil's Ygor Coelho in the first round which took place on Monday, 22 August.

The mainstay of Indonesia's men's singles even fell behind in the first game. He gave up with a score of 13-21.

However, Ginting managed to rise in the next two games. He won by a score of 21-15 and 21-12.

"In the first game, I played quite tense, my foot movements were too slow, so I couldn't play with my own pattern," Ginting said in a written statement quoted by Antara.

"In the second and third games, try to speed up the tempo of the game and it works. Finally the game is more developed and can enjoy the game, also more calmly," he continued.

Ginting then praised his opponent's performance in this match. According to him, Ygor is a good player.

"So indeed I have to be wary of him," he said after playing 53 minutes to end the fight against Ygor.
