JAKARTA - Chelsea are advised to sell their failed players to fund spending on new players in this summer's transfer window.
Currently the Blues are associated with several names. Two names include Nordi Mukiele from RB Leipzig and Presnel Kimpembe from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
In order not to have to worry about spending money, the Blues are considered to need to sell at least six of their players. The names that appear have even reportedly been on the selling list of coach Thomas Tuchel, including Timo Werner.
The six names proposed for sale made just 90 combined appearances last season. So they were deemed necessary to be trimmed to make way for a new, more suitable star.
If you sell these six names, Chelsea will not only get fresh funds to spend on players. But it can also save a salary of 700 thousand pounds per week or Rp12 billion.
So, Chelsea's finances are believed to be healthier.
Here are six names that are considered to be released by Chelsea to improve their finances:
Timo Werner
The 26-year-old German forward earns £272.000 per week at Stamford Bridge. He has scored 23 goals and provided 21 assists in 89 appearances for the Blues.
Last season, he played 37 games. However, his prowess in front of goal is still somewhat questionable so the arrival of Raheem Sterling could take him to the exit.
Poor Sarr
Earned a contract of 120.000 pounds (approximately IDR 2.1 billion) per week and made 21 appearances last season. His prospects in London are now open after the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
However, the arrival of Kalidou Koulibaly and the potential acquisition of Kimpembe could see the 23-year-old's time in west London come to an end.
Michy Batshuayi
Michy Batshuayi is one of those players that Chelsea fans may forget. The Belgian forward earns £69.000 per week.
He spent last season on loan at Besiktas and scored 14 goals. He has not played for the Blues since the 2019/2020 season so his potential to leave is open.
Ross Barkley
Ross Barkley has been a Chelsea player since 2018 when he joined from Everton for £15m. However, in those four years he has scored just 12 goals and made just 17 appearances in the last two seasons while on loan at Aston Villa.
Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are so far more trusted than Barkley who receives a salary of £96 thousand per week. For that, transfer seems to be the only option.
Kennedy
The Brazilian is under contract with Chelsea since 2015. However, he spent most of his career on loan at Watford, Newcastle and Flamengo.
He has so far made just 30 appearances for the Blues, including three games last season. However, he is paid 25.000 pounds (approximately IDR 449 million) a week. He needs to find a new club to build a career.
Kepa Arrizabalaga
Kepa Arrizabalaga remains the most expensive goalkeeper in history at £71 million. However, he is now the number two player after Edouard Mendy.
He played only four times in the Premier League last season so it is possible Chelsea will cash in on the goalkeeper with a salary of 155.000 pounds (approximately IDR 2.75 billion) per week this week.
