JAKARTA - A football match in Argentina's fourth division turned into a brutal riot due to a hail of gunfire off the field and Molotov cocktails on the pitch. One teenager even had to fight for life after being seriously injured by this incident.

Quoted from The Sun, this incident occurred during the local Buenos Aires derby between Club Lujan and Club Alem at the Campo Municipal de Deportes Lujan Stadium. The horrific incident began when ultras arrived in cars and opened fire on the home fans gathered in pubs and bars near the stadium.

As a result of this riot, at least seven people were injured by the hail of bullets. The same source also said local reports claimed an 18-year-old youth was seriously injured after gunshots were heard around the match.

One video showed the boy clutching his bloodied stomach as a paramedic gave him emergency treatment.

Not only inside the stadium, riots also occurred around the field which caused a number of people to suffer injuries due to fighting and objects being thrown.

To defuse the growing riots, the police fired rubber bullets to try to disperse the warring groups.

Meanwhile, the chaos caused the match to be postponed for the first 15 minutes until the organizers finally decided to stop the match. The decision was taken because there was a Molotov cocktail that was thrown and landed near the visitors' place.

Seeing that, the referee quickly left the field and took the players to safety. Because of this incident Club Alem expressed its disappointment.

“Unfortunately the classic match was suspended due to an incident. What was supposed to be a football party was overshadowed by a violent group of people," read a statement on Alem's Facebook page.

Alem coach, Horacio Fabregat told how this horror happened on the field. They had to wait for the situation to subside to be able to leave the stadium and return to their headquarters.

"We are in the locker room. We had no way of getting out because we didn't have a microphone and were just waiting (to find out) how we would get home," Fabregat was quoted as saying by The Sun.

"The leaders (of the club) were with us and the people of Lujan saw how we could (go). I was the first to see something happen."

“I called the fourth referee and asked him to stop play. From then on they asked us to come on to the pitch. They started throwing stones at us and a very loud bomb fell near the dugout," he explained.
