JAKARTA - The intensity of the Indonesian national team's training was lowered by head coach Shin Tae-yong ahead of the match against Bangladesh. The decision was made in order to maintain the fitness of the squad.

As is known, Indonesia will host Bangladesh on FIFA Matchday at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung, on Wednesday, June 1. The Garuda squad is currently in the Flower City and continues to train for the match.

"For two days starting from yesterday until this morning, the intensity of the training was very high, but starting this afternoon the training was only for recovery and just touching the ball so that the condition was getting fitter," said the South Korean coach on the PSSI website.

Lowering the intensity of training was done by Shin for several reasons. Among them is the hectic schedule of the Garuda squad and several players who have just resumed their activities after taking a break for some time.

One of the players who recently took a long break is Jordi Amat. The naturalized player previously rested for five weeks and was active again in training.

"So the training is very tired and tired. It takes one week to 10 days to practice so that the condition returns to fit," said the 51-year-old coach.

Apart from Jordi Amat, in this training camp another naturalized player, namely Sandy Walsh, was joined. Both were invited by Shin Tae-yong while waiting for the completion of the naturalization process.

Despite joining the training, Sandy's condition is not 100 percent fit. The 27-year-old player has just had surgery so he is still going through the rehabilitation process.

"His rehabilitation progress is very good, he will soon return to the team following normal training," said Shin Tae-yong.

After the friendly match with Bangladesh, the Indonesian national team immediately prepared for the next schedule. They will continue their trip to Kuwait for the 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers on 8 June.
