Marc Marquez Will Be Absent For Surgery, Honda Sends A Touching Message: Put Your Life First, We Will Wait

JAKARTA - Repsol Honda racer Marc Marquez was forced to prematurely end the 2022 MotoGP season because he had to undergo further surgery. Even so, Honda, which is the driver's shelter, gave a touching message for the rider's recovery.

Marquez said Honda had never hesitated in encouraging him to undergo a fourth operation on his right arm. In fact, the Japanese manufacturer also places great importance on Marquez's health and promises to continue waiting for the Spaniard's recovery.

"I feel they (Honda) have great respect for me," Marquez said of Honda's support for him.

"They (Honda) even said to me, 'Your life is more important. Put yourself first. We will wait'," Marquez continued as quoted from Crash, Monday, May 30.

Regarding his condition, which is not very good, the rider with number 93 admitted that he had offered to Honda to continue this season's tournament without undergoing surgery. However, he is also realistic about his condition which might make his performance not optimal.

"I said to them, 'The situation is like this, if you want, I can continue racing in these conditions. Finish in 5-10 positions and maybe get a podium in some series," Marquez explained.

The operation that will be carried out by Marquez will be the fourth operation on his right hand. This situation must be passed by Marquez because of the effects of the accident he experienced at the Spanish MotoGP in 2020.

Although two years have passed and he has undergone frequent surgeries, Marquez's right arm has not fully recovered. Marquez still often feels uncomfortable with the condition of his right arm and it affects when Marquez rides a motorbike on the track.
