JAKARTA - Turkish German boxer Musa Askan Yamak, who died of a heart attack in last Sunday's fight, was buried in his hometown of Alucra, in Giresun, northeastern Turkey, Thursday.

Quoted from Daily Sabah, Friday, a tribute to Yamak was held at the Alucra Central Mosque. District Governor Mustafa elik, Mayor Alucra Suat Aybar, representatives of the Turkish and German boxing federations, fellow athletes and local residents attended the funeral.

The boxer, who was unbeaten in 75 matches in his career, was later buried in the district cemetery.

Yamak collapsed in the ring after suffering a heart attack in the third round of the 84 kilogram fight in Munich, Germany.

He was rushed to hospital where he breathed on Monday.

Yamak became the European and Asian light heavyweight champion while holding the World Boxing Federation (WBF) and Global Boxing Union (GBU) belts.
