Suzuki's Issue Will Leave MotoGP, Dorna Is Ready To Open Doors For Other Manufacturers To Join

JAKARTA - The Suzuki factory team is rumored to be leaving MotoGP as the 2022 season ends. Dorna Sport as the MotoGP organizer has raised its voice regarding this issue.

The emergence of this issue then also led to speculation about the future of the two Suzuki riders, namely Joan Mot and Alex Rins.

Dorna said that his party and Suzuki are currently holding official talks about the news that circulated. Dorna also mentioned the contract that had been agreed by the Japanese manufacturer team.

"Following recent rumors of Suzuki leaving MotoGP at the end of 2022, Dorna Sports has officially contacted the factory to remind them that the conditions of their contract to race in MotoGP do not allow them to take this decision unilaterally," said Dorna on their official website.

Furthermore, Dorna also said that if Suzuki still decided to leave after the 2022 season, it would be a careful consideration by the organizers in determining the number of riders for the next season.

"However, if Suzuki leaves after an agreement has been reached between the two parties, Dorna will determine the ideal number of riders and teams competing in the MotoGP class from 2023."

That way, Dorna also said they would open the door for other factory teams to join and fill the vacant position that Suzuki would leave.

"Dorna continues to receive high levels of interest from a number of authorized factories and Independent Teams wishing to join the MotoGP grid as the sport continues to be a global example of intense competition, innovation and entertainment, reaching hundreds of millions of fans worldwide. Interest from these parties has been reconfirmed in the last 24 hours,” explained Dorna.

Although Dorna as the organizer has provided a response, on the other hand Suzuki has not issued an official statement regarding this news.
