JAKARTA – The fifth MotoGP series will start today, Friday, April 22. The most prestigious motorcycle race began with the first free practice (FP1) and the second free practice (FP2).
The Portugal series will be the opening series of the MotoGP race series in Europe. The series in Europe is expected to continue as fierce as the previous series which took place in Asia and America.
If you look at the results in the previous four series, it is very likely that a new series champion will be born during the event in Europe. As is known, in the previous four series, three riders from different teams successfully occupied the top podium.
In total there are ten different riders who occupy the podium one to three. That is, not a single rider who managed to dominate the beginning of this season.

The current leader of the standings is still Enea Bastianini of Gresini is one of only two riders to have made it to the podium twice so far. The 24-year-old Italian racer won the first two podiums, respectively, in the Qatar and Austin series, United States.
Bastianini has actually never started a race from pole position this season. However, he managed to occupy the top position with a collection of 61 points.
Many are looking forward to his brilliant stunts, as demonstrated in Austin.
Meanwhile, another rider who has twice been on the podium is Alex Rins from the Suzuki team. The Spaniard has finished second in America and third in Argentina respectively and has collected 56 points, only five points adrift of Bastianini.
With a small points gap, the current standings may change after the Portugal draw later. Apart from Rins, Bastiani of course faces threats from other riders who have been on the podium this season such as Fabio Quartararo, Aleix Espargaro, and Joan Mir, who are stuck tight in the standings.
However, don't rule out Marc Marquez either. Although he has not been able to say much, the Spaniard has given a danger signal with his brilliant performance in the American MotoGP.
