Preview Liverpool Vs Manchester United: Tough Test For The Reds

JAKARTA - Liverpool's efforts to maintain their chances of winning the 2021/2022 English Premier League will face a tough test on Wednesday, April 20, when they host Manchester United at Anfield Stadium.

Currently, the Reds are still in second place in the standings of the highest football caste in England. They collected 73 points or left only one point from Manchester City who occupy the top position.

Both teams have six games remaining after the meeting tomorrow morning. Thus, to be able to maintain hopes of getting a league title this season, three points are a fixed price for Liverpool if they do not want to be eliminated from the championship path.

Jurgen Klopp's men head into this clash having secured their place in the FA Cup final. Meanwhile, the Red Devils have just kept their chances of getting a place in the European Champions League zone after a 3-2 victory over Norwich City the previous week.

Setting foot in the FA final, still having a chance in the Premier League, and playing a maximum of only 270 minutes to get the Champions League title, is not an easy matter for Liverpool. The ambition to get four titles in one season will get a tough test and is almost impossible to do.

If Liverpool struggle to stay competitive with City, it will be different with Manchester United. The Red Devils will try to move up to the top four in order to compete in the Champions League competition next season.

Currently, Cristiano Ronaldo and his colleagues are still in fifth position in the standings. They are three points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur who occupy the last position in the top four of the standings.

"It's a big game, a big game, the two biggest clubs in the world. We always have to learn to deal with it. They (Manchester United) want to be in the Champions League. It will be an intense 90 minutes. It is another very important game for both teams." Klopp told Reuters.

If they manage to secure three points against Manchester United then Liverpool will automatically occupy the top position of the standings for at least the next 24 hours. If that scenario happens, the pressure will be on the shoulders of City who will face Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday, 21 April.

Although it is predicted that it will be a serious challenge against MU, the Reds remain in a superior position. Moreover Klopp's men have an interesting record of scoring at least two goals in each of their last five matches across competitions.

In addition, they have also appeared impressive when playing at home this season. They recorded success in scoring nine goals without conceding in the previous three matches which took place at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to still be able to win this match even if he does not field his best team. The reason is, Manchester United so far have not appeared consistent at all since Ralf Rangnick was coached.
