JAKARTA - Indonesian badminton lovers will be presented with a number of international tournaments. There are six prestigious tournaments that will be held in the country in 2022.

Of the six tournaments, each of the three events is the BWF Super Series and the Indonesia International Challenge.

PP PBSI's Head of Foreign Relations, Bambang Roedyanto, said that previously Indonesia only had four tournaments to take place, but later received an additional two senior-level international tournaments this year.

"So specifically for 2022, we will get two additional International Challenge tournaments. We will also hold the Indonesia Masters Super 100 and the International Challenge which we previously held regularly. Both were not held in the last two years due to the pandemic," said Rudy in a written statement, as reported by Antara.

In detail, he explained, the agenda in question included the Indonesia Open Super 1000, Indonesia Masters Super 500, Indonesia Masters Super 100, and three Indonesia International Challenges.

The implementation of the additional two tournaments is certainly very helpful for the back-up players to get points. The reason is that lower-class tournaments are often held on the European continent during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, many countries in Asia are still unable to comply due to current concerns.

"That's why I proposed to Indonesia to try and it was approved by BWF. This is important so that our back-up players can compete and get points. They don't have to go all the way to Europe," he explained.

As of this writing, the certainty of the tournament schedule has only been obtained for the Indonesia Masters Super 500 on 7-12 June and the Indonesia Open Super 1000 on 14-19 June. Both will be held at the Istora Senayan Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta.

As for the other four tournaments, PP PBSI has not yet specified the exact venue and date of implementation. "We will inform you about the date and place later," concluded Rudy.
