Wants Bayern Munich To Avenge Defeat In The Second Leg, Thomas Muller: This Is Just The First Leg And We Are 0-1 Down

JAKARTA - Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Muller wants his team to avenge the defeat to Villareal in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at the Allianz Arena Stadium, Munich, Tuesday night local time.

Quoted from Antara from the club's official website, Thursday, in the first leg at Madridgal Stadium, Villareal, Wednesday night local time, Bayern Munich was surprisingly defeated by the hosts with a score of 0-1 due to a single goal from Arnaut Danjuma.

"We will unite. We want to win in the Bundesliga on Saturday, and then we continue. We want to reply in the second leg," said Muller.

According to him, this was a defeat he did not expect and Bayern Munich were not able to perform as they wanted.

The German went on to explain that things could have been worse in this match but they could have prevented it and he felt his team were not playing well.

"We lost, we accept it, but we know how to judge. That's not what we want to show. We (play) at home next week. This is just the first leg and we are 0-1 down," said Muller.

In line with Muller, midfielder Joshua Kimmich admitted the approach taken by Munich in the first half was disappointing but got better in the second half.

In the second half, Kimmich said Bayern took more risks and admitted Villarreal were capable of showing their quality, whereas his team failed to do so.

"We didn't play superior opponents, but they have quality and we couldn't show it today. But I'm sure we will show another side of us in the second leg," explained Kimmich.

Because of this result, Bayern Munich is required to win by a two-goal difference at the Allianz Arena in order to ensure a place in the semifinals of this season's Champions League.
