JAKARTA - Newcastle United coach Eddie Howe said his team got additional strength ahead of the match against Tottenham Hotspur in Week 31 of the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, Sunday.

Quoted from the club's official website on Sunday, Howe said three of his injured players, namely goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, defender Fabian Schar and midfielder Jonjo Shelvey were available for the match.

The British coach explained that currently there are several players who are sick because they have traveled long distances after defending their country during the international break.

"Fabian is back after not playing and not training, but we have had a few sessions with him so we think he will be fit. Martin trained with us for the first time yesterday, so we wish him well," Howe explained.

"Jonjo has been training, he hasn't trained every session we have, I think he has a bad illness but we hope he will be fine."

Regarding the match against Tottenham, Howe said he would again try to maximize his midfield which is now inhabited by Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock and Shelvey.

The former Bournemouth coach explained that midfield is a key area for Newcastle and has undoubtedly been one of the strengths of his team this season.

"I think we have a good mix there with technical quality, physical attributes and defence. I think it's really, really good," Howe explained.

"It's a good problem for me to have. I have to try and pick three out of five if everyone is fit and we decided to play with three."

Currently, Newcastle United are in 15th position in the Premier League standings with 31 points from 29 matches, a win over Tottenham could make them move up one place.
