Roma Beat Vitesse In Conference League: Tammy Abraham Equals Batistuta And Montella's Record

JAKARTA - AS Roma drew 1-1 with Vitesse in the second leg of the last 16 of the Conference League, Friday, March 18, early morning WIB. With this result, the Italian Serie A club qualified for the quarter-finals with a 2-1 aggregate advantage.

AS Roma was left behind in the 62nd minute after Maximilian Wittek broke into Rui Patricio's goal. When the game went on for 90 minutes, the position was 1-0 for the visitors' advantage to stay.

Luckily for AS Roma, the match did not proceed to extra round. The reason, Tammy Abraham scored a goal in the 91st minute! The match ended with the score 1-1.

With this achievement, Tammy Abraham equaled the record of two AS Roma legends, Gabriel Batistuta and Vicenzo Montella. He scored 21 goals in his first season with the I Giallorossi.

"I see it on my Instagram every day. My goal when I arrived here was to score goals and help the team, I hope to score more goals," said the former Chelsea player, as quoted by Football Italia.

"There is nothing more important than scoring goals and seeing how the fans react. This result is important for us and the fans," he continued.

Not only Tammy Abraham who scored a record after this match. AS Roma is the same. They are the only Italian team to have reached at least three quarter-finals in European club competition.

However, AS Roma coach, Jose Mourinho, was not so happy. He expected something more from his foster children.

"Honestly, I'm not happy with what we played today. The problem tonight is that we lose the ball easily. This is a bad performance on a technical level," said AS Roma coach from Portugal.
