Inter Milan Vs Salernitana: Lautaro's Hattrick Bring Inter Back To The Top Of The Serie A Standings

JAKARTA - Internazionale Milan rose to the top of the Italian Serie A standings after beating bottom side Salernitana 5-0 at the San Siro on Saturday 5 March, with Lautaro Martinez celebrating the end of his goal drought by scoring a hat-trick.

This victory brought Simone Inzaghi's team one point ahead of Napoli who finished second and at the same time from city team AC Milan.

On the other hand, Salernitana remains rooted to the bottom of the table, 10 points from safety.

Inter took the lead in the 22nd minute when Nicolo Barella broke through the visitors' defense to send a superb through ball to Martinez who escaped the offside trap.

Martinez directed his shot into the bottom corner of the net to score his first goal in 10 appearances.

Barella and Martinez again maneuvered from midfield before halftime.

Martinez then found space between the two opposing defenders and briefly delayed his shot to make room for it before turning the ball around Luigi Sepe who kept Salernitana in the net.

Martinez completed his hat-trick 11 minutes after the break when Edin Dzeko slotted home the 24-year-old Argentine striker to net Salernitana for the third time.

Dzeko created many chances in this match.

The striker got the reward he deserved when he scored twice in the space of five minutes.

The first came with a first finish at the near post after running through Robin Gosens' cross before capitalizing on Denzel Dumfries' cross from a counter-attack.
