Pioli Is Optimistic That AC Milan Is In Good Form, Even Though Zlatan Ibrahimovic Is Not At His Maximum

JAKARTA – AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli confirmed on Thursday that his team is still on track in the hunt for a first Serie A title in 11 years, and never loses balance.

AC Milan came close to a shock loss to bottom club Salernitana last weekend, as Ante Rebic only secured a 2-2 draw with a long-range strike in the last minute.

Currently, they are still top of the table with 56 points after 26 games, two points ahead of local rivals Inter Milan who are still one game away.

"We have not lost our balance. We have built the team on a solid foundation", Pioli said, quoted from Antara, February 28.

"Now we need to improve by confirming all the details from now until the end (of the season). We came up with a performance that can also make mistakes. We have worked on this and therefore we hope our performance can be even better. Tomorrow is a busy schedule", he explained.

Pioli says the team is still focused on improving on points from last season when they finished second on 79 points, 12 adrift of champions Inter.

"I have so much faith in my players that with them anything is possible", he said.

"Top goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic took longer than expected to recover from the Achilles tendon injury suffered in February. But the 40-year-old striker will never give up and retire, said Pioli.

"Because of his determination, his ambition, and his willingness to help the team, I'm sure he will continue to play", he said.

"His performance is improving although a little slower than expected, but he's feeling better." according to Reuters.
