JAKARTA - Basketball player Kaleb Ramot Gemilang was called to join the Indonesian national basketball team. He will follow the national team training camp after two years of absence.

The summons was made by the national basketball parent (PP Perbasi) on Sunday, February 13. Thus Ramot will join other players in preparation for the second window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualification in the Asian zone.

"Welcome Back! Through a summons from PP Perbasi, Kaleb Ramot Gemilang, will soon join the Indonesian Basketball National Team," reads PP Perbasi's statement on its Instagram account.

Previously, Kaleb suffered an injury in mid-2020. As a result of the injury he had to go up to the operating table and was absent from the IBL competition last season.

After recovering from his injury, Kaleb returned to IBL 2022 and managed to perform brilliantly with Dewa United. So far, the 30-year-old basketball player has packed 100 points, 22 rebounds, and 13 assists.

"Of course, I'm happy to be called and trusted again to make a comeback to the national team. Hopefully I can give you the best," said Kaleb.

Coach Rajko Toroman called almost all the players who previously played for the basketball national team in the first window in Lebanon. Only Govinda Saputra was not called back to the training camp.

In addition, the coach also summoned a number of young players such as Ali Bagir, Aldy Izzatur, Ikram Fadhil, Indra Muhammad, Kelvin Sanjaya, Muhammad Arighi, and Yudha Saputra.

"Looking at the material, in the short term, the players are good. But for the long term, we must also give confidence to the young players, especially since they have good physical posture and quality," Kaleb was quoted as saying on the IBL website.

The Indonesian basketball team is scheduled to play two qualifying matches this month. First, Rajko Toroman's team will face Saudi Arabia on February 24, following three days later against Jordan.

As of February 9 yesterday, all the players who were called up to attend the training camp had entered the hotel to be kept there until the team's departure on the evening of February 20 to Saudi Arabia.
