Still Active As A Professional Boxer, Daud Jordan Elected As Chairman Of KONI Kayong Utara, West Kalimantan

JAKARTA - Indonesian boxer Daud Jordan has a new profession. The man who was born in June 1987 is now officially the Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) in North Kayong Regency, West Kalimantan, for the period 2022-2026.

Daud was elected by acclamation in the fourth District Sports Conference (Musorkab) of the North Kayong KONI at the Mahkota Kayong Sukadana Hotel, West Kalimantan, Saturday, February 12.

After being elected, Daud and the management of the KONI of North Kayong Regency for the 2022-2026 period were inaugurated by the Deputy Regent of North Kayong H Effendi Ahmad.

Daud also promised to try his best to carry out his new task as the leader of the KONI of North Kayong Regency.

"I was elected by acclamation and of course this is a new history for me as an active athlete and leading the KONI of North Kayong Regency," said Daud as quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 13.

Daud is currently listed as the best Indonesian professional boxer. Since his professional debut 25 August 2025, he has made 45 appearances, with 41 wins.

Daud will defend his WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver super lightweight (63.5kg) title against South Korea's Hwang Kil Kim at the World Siam Stadium, Bangkapi, Bangkok, Thailand, on March 4.

Daud revealed that before officially becoming the Chairman of KONI of North Kayong Regency, he had communicated with 35 sports branch managers.

He is also determined to be able to bring the direction of sports in North Kayong to be better.

"Of course, despite my busy schedule as a boxer, I will also make efforts to communicate with various parties," said Daud.

"The source of funds for the KONI of North Kayong Regency is limited to government grants. I will fight for improvements. So that sports achievements can be improved. Because it is impossible for a coaching program to run if it is not supported by an adequate budget," he added.

In addition, Daud is also committed with his staff to monitor sports development from the respective sports branch administrators.

"I like something new and a new responsibility," said Daud.

"This great responsibility and of course being organized makes me more mature in taking future actions that are relevant to my wishes," he concluded.
