JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will speak with President Donald Trump on Wednesday. Zelenskyy said the United States should monitor any potential ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia with a focus on energy facilities.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously agreed to temporarily halt attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities.

But Putin refused to support the full 30-day ceasefire President Donald Trump hopes will be the first step towards a permanent peace deal.

Moscow and Kyiv accused each other of airstrikes damaging infrastructure just hours after their leaders agreed to a limited ceasefire to halt attacks on energy infrastructure.

Zelenskyy, in a joint briefing in Helsinki with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, said Putin's statement was insufficient.

Ukraine, continued Zelenskyy, will provide a list of energy facilities expected to be monitored by the US and its allies.

"I really want control. However, I believe that the main agent of this control should be the United States," the Ukrainian president stressed Kyiv would be ready to commit to the ceasefire.

"If Russia will not attack our facilities, then we will definitely not attack their facilities," Zelenskyy added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kyiv's air force said it had destroyed 72 of the 145 unmanned aircraft launched by Russia on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the Russian defense ministry said its unit had crashed 57 Ukrainian drones.
