DPR Leaders Hope The Government Negotiates Additional Hajj Quota 2025

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Cucun Syamsurijal hopes that the government through the Ministry of Religion can negotiate to increase the 2025/1446 H hajj quota. Meanwhile, Indonesia received a quota of 221,000 pilgrims from the Saudi Arabian government.

This was conveyed by Cucun in response to the meeting of Commission VIII of the DPR and the Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar which was suddenly held today at the DPR building.

Cucun also hopes that the government will fix the findings of the Hajj committee such as quotas, services and lodging for the congregation.

"We hope that from the leadership in the DPR, what were the findings of yesterday's Hajj special committee regarding services, for example, now our scheme has hope that there will be additional quotas. Don't let those who are entitled to regulation then the decision to be carried out by the organizers, by the committee, namely by the Ministry of Religion," said Cucun, Monday, December 30.

"Regarding the quota, for example, don't jump it to a new year. Even the events of yesterday's special committee findings that have not been registered can just leave. This violates the law," he continued.

Cucun emphasized that the government must really maintain the rights of the people who are just. Especially the right to be able to go to perform the pilgrimage.

"Then also the most important thing for me is that the current pilgrimage trip should not let there be a discussion on the reduction of the cost of the hajj component. But the point of the validity of the implementation of the pilgrimage is not heeded," he said.

"Yesterday, for example, the most important, harmonious in worship, so the officers appointed by the ministry by the organizing committee must really have a moral responsibility. Because they are paid by the state, they are paid by the people who go there as officers to convince them to guide the implementation of their worship. That is the most important thing, yes, ensure in terms of worship," he explained.

In addition, the DPR asked the government to negotiate. "Yes, we hope that there will be additional quotas so as to reduce the queue for more people who have the opportunity to go for the pilgrimage now," he said.
